Life & loss of HMAS Perth, with Mike Carlton Part 2

Commissioned into the RAN on 29 June 1939, HMAS Perth was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sank on 1 March 1942. Of the vessel’s company of 686, only 218 were repatriated. Many became prisoners of war and were incarcerated in camp near Batavia, Java. The story is now the subject of a new book by author and media personality Mike Carlton.
